Good morning our dear Friends and Colleagues, what a blessing to be part of this family and this includes selfless lawyers who are not on this platform that have chosen to put the NBA and the legal profession ahead of personal losses or political affiliations. Rather than welcome this as a great opportunity to force a reform and put an end to abuse of prosecutorial powers, an opportunity to enforce respect for the judiciary and strict adherence to established judicial processes, we have heard feeble and hollow noises of Mr President resign or step aside without any proof of how the orchestrated cacophony has negatively impacted on the image of the NBA. To the contrary and much to their chagrin, the image of the NBA has been elevated, the President has not missed a step in his official duties. The feeble voices know that a charge of money laundering cannot be sustained against the President (obtain copies of the proof of evidence from the court) and therefore resort to the baseless unsubstantiated debate about the image of the NBA. The Nigerian public - lawyers and non lawyers want to a vibrant, independent and courageous NBA who will not be cowed or succumb to blackmail so that their role as the conscience and watchdog for the society is fearlessly executed.
