Arrives court for arraignment

The President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Paul Usoro, SAN, has reportedly shunned the EFCC’s invitation to their office early this morning.

TheNigerialawyer (TNL) gathered that the anti-graft agency had called Mr. Usoro to visit their office and be served the 10-count charge levelled against him, however, Mr. Usoro refused the invitation asking the Commission to serve him in court.

A reliable source revealed that the Commission wants all the drama of bringing him to Court themselves as if he was arrested.

Nonetheless, at the time of filing this report, Mr. Paul Usoro was already in court as the judge was yet to sit. Also in court is the prosecutor to the EFCC.

A Commenter of all the whole display was quoted to have voiced his worries over why the Commission failed serving the NBA President as at when due, but ended up publicizing the charge on the walls of social media.

”Court time is 9am. What are they still doing in their office? If the service on PU were so important to them, why did they not serve him before now? But they served the media almost a week ago? Does this not just show that EFCC is not interested in justice but to pull PU down as planned by them and their cohorts?

The Bar must rise against injustice and oppression in the guise of law enforcement. The time to act is now,” he said.

TNL recalls that the NBA President had promised appearing in court to answer the charges levelled against him despite not served with the charges.
